Losing teeth changes more than a smile. It changes what you can eat, how you sound, and often how willing you are to sit down to a meal with other people. Dentures are one of the most established ways to get those things back.
At Trinity Dental Services, we fit full dentures, partial dentures, and implant-supported dentures, and we take the time to get the fit right rather than rushing you out with something that rubs. Call (732) 613-1125 or book a consultation.
The right option depends on how many teeth are missing, the condition of the teeth that remain, and the amount of jawbone available to support a restoration.
For patients who have lost, or need to have removed, all the teeth in an arch. A full denture rests on the gum tissue and is held in place by suction and the shape of the ridge. Upper dentures generally hold more securely than lower ones, because the palate provides more surface area for suction.
One complete arch, restored
For patients who still have healthy natural teeth. A removable partial fills the gaps and clasps onto the remaining teeth for stability, and stops the neighbouring teeth from drifting into the empty space. If only one or two teeth are missing, a fixed dental bridge or a dental implant may suit you better. We will lay out the trade-offs.
Fitted on the same day the remaining teeth are removed, so you are not without teeth while the gums heal. The trade-off is that gums and bone reshape considerably during healing, so an immediate denture will need relining or replacing once things settle.
A denture that clips onto dental implants rather than resting on the gums. This is the option patients ask about most once they have lived with a conventional lower denture for a while, because it addresses the two most common complaints — movement while eating and pressure on the gums.
For patients replacing a full arch, All-on-4 implant treatment supports a full set of replacement teeth on as few as four implants.
When a tooth is lost, the bone that used to hold its root is no longer stimulated by chewing, and the body gradually resorbs it. The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research documents how tooth and bone loss are linked.
This is why dentures that fit well in year one can feel loose by year five — the ridge underneath has changed shape. It is also why implant-supported options behave differently: implants transmit chewing forces into the bone, which helps maintain it.
Conventional dentures will need relining periodically as your ridge changes. That is expected maintenance, not a failure.
Dr. Youstina Mantias examines your remaining teeth, gums, and jaw ridges, and takes digital X-rays to assess bone. If any teeth need to come out first, we will plan that as part of the sequence — see tooth extraction.
We take detailed impressions of your ridges and record how your jaws come together. A trial denture in wax lets you see the tooth position, shade, and shape before anything is finalised. Speak up at this stage — it is far easier to change the setup now than after the denture is processed.
Your finished denture is placed and adjusted. We check the bite, the borders where the denture meets the soft tissue, and how it behaves when you speak.
Almost every new denture needs at least one adjustment in the first weeks. Sore spots are normal and fixable — do not tolerate one for weeks. Call us and come in.
The first few weeks take adjustment. That is not a sign anything is wrong. Never attempt to adjust or repair a denture yourself — over-the-counter repair kits and filing at home usually make the fit worse and can damage the denture beyond repair.
Cost depends on the type of denture, the materials, whether extractions or implants are part of the plan, and how much your insurance contributes. Implant-supported options cost more upfront than conventional dentures and behave very differently day to day.

We see patients at 63 W Prospect St #1. Denture treatment involves several appointments, so evening hours until 7:00 PM and Saturday availability make a genuine difference. If your denture has cracked or broken, call (732) 613-1125 — see emergency dentistry.
Conventional dentures generally take several appointments over a few weeks, covering impressions, a wax try-in, fitting, and adjustments. Immediate dentures are placed the same day teeth are removed but require relining once healing is complete.
Dentures restore support to the lips and cheeks that is lost with the teeth, so many patients find their facial appearance improves. Tooth shade, shape, and position are all chosen with you at the try-in stage before the denture is finalised.
A well-fitted denture should not hurt, though new dentures commonly cause sore spots in the first weeks as the tissue adapts. These are straightforward to adjust. Persistent pain always warrants an appointment rather than waiting it out.
Most patients return to a varied diet, though it takes practice. Start with softer foods cut into small pieces and chew on both sides simultaneously. Very hard and very sticky foods remain more difficult with conventional dentures than with implant-supported options.
Brush daily with a denture brush and a cleaner made for dentures — regular toothpaste is too abrasive. Rinse after eating, and soak overnight in water or a soaking solution unless you have been advised otherwise.
A conventional denture rests on the gums and is held by suction. An implant-supported denture clips onto dental implants placed in the jaw. Implant-supported dentures do not move during eating and transmit chewing forces into the bone rather than pressing on gum tissue.
Jaw ridges change shape over time as bone remodels, so dentures need periodic relining and eventual replacement. Regular checkups let us catch a deteriorating fit before it causes sore spots or difficulty eating.
Many plans contribute toward dentures, though coverage and frequency limits vary by plan. We verify your benefits before treatment begins and offer Sunbit financing, CareCredit, and an in-office plan for the balance.
If missing teeth are changing how you eat or how you feel about smiling, a consultation costs you nothing but an hour.
